Why my Facebook and Instagram accounts are down
A quick update on my Meta accounts' disappearance.
I wasn’t expecting to write this update, but I woke up this morning, suddenly having been locked out of both Facebook and Instagram. More specifically, all of my accounts across both platforms have been suspended.
The reason Meta gave me had something to do with impersonation and the person managing the accounts or page not being the same person who originally created them. The explanation wasn’t especially clear, so I’m still not entirely sure what triggered the suspension.
My best guess is that it may be connected to how I’ve been using Meta Business Suite. I accessed it through my private Facebook account rather than through the business portfolio I created for my portfolio. It’s possible that Meta couldn’t properly connect the two and interpreted the activity as an unknown person accessing or managing my accounts. That is only a theory, though— I haven’t received a clear confirmation of what actually happened.
I’ve submitted appeals to both Facebook and Instagram. As part of the verification process, I was asked to record a video selfie and send a photo of my health insurance card as identification. For now, all I can really do is wait for Meta to review the appeals.
So, if you’ve noticed that my Facebook or Instagram profiles have disappeared, I haven’t deleted them or decided to leave social media. They’re simply unavailable while I try to regain access.
